RNC Lay Charges Related to Violent Assaults in Metro

(St. John’s, NL), October 5, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Child Abuse and Sexual Assault (CASA) Unit have laid charges in connection with violent assaults on the Northeast Avalon.

On Saturday, October 1, 2022, the RNC received reports related to multiple events of intimate partner and sexual violence, believed to have occurred at residences in Paradise and Mount Pearl between September 26 and October 1, 2022. Responding officers located two female victims in connection with the investigation, both had sustained injuries. The RNC CASA Unit was engaged to investigate the event.

As a result of the investigation, on October 2, 2022, at approximately 6:40 pm, investigators arrested 44-year-old Michael PIPPY from St. John’s. PIPPY has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, choking, two counts of assault, forcible confinement, uttering threats, sexual assault, assault with a weapon, theft, and failure to comply with a court order. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
