RNC Vehicle Theft Investigation Reveals Pattern

(St. John’s, NL), October 5, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) informing community of commonalities with a recent rash of vehicle thefts in the metro region.

In recent months, the RNC has received dozens of reports of vehicle thefts in the Northeast Avalon region of the province. The RNC Criminal Investigation Division and Operational Patrol Services have seized vehicles and made arrests in connection with a number of these events. • Do not leave keys or key fobs inside the vehicle when unattended
  • Always lock vehicle doors and residence doors.
  • Do not leave handbags or wallets in plain view in your vehicle or near the door of a residence.
  • Keep vehicle keys out of plain view, preferably away from the entrance of your residence.
  • Report any suspicious activity or persons around your property and neighbourhood

The RNC request that anyone with information to assist contact the RNC at 729-8000 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers: #SayItHere 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), visit www.nlcrimestoppers.com or use the P3Tips app.
