RNC Investigating an Assault with a Weapon in Downtown St. John’s

(St. John’s, NL), January 3, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Major Crimes Unit (MCU) are investigating an assault in downtown St. John’s.

On January 1, 2023, at about 2:25 a.m. the RNC responded to a request for assistance in the area of George Street, St. John’s following a report of an assault with a weapon.

Members of RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded and located two individuals who had sustained injuries following an assault with a weapon, which occurred on George Street. A 27-year-old man and a 30-year-old man were taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The RNC deployed resources from its Criminal Investigation Division (CID), including MCU, and Forensic Investigation Services (FIS). The investigation is ongoing and the RNC MCU are requesting assistance from the public.
