RNC Make an Arrest Connected to Firearms Offences in Labrador City

(St. John’s, NL), January 19, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) make an arrest connected to firearms offences in Labrador City.

On January 18, 2023, shortly before 7:00 p.m. RNC OPS responded to a request assistance in the area of Tamarack Drive, Labrador City. Information was received that a 32-year-old man may be driving in the area with a loaded firearm accessible.

Responding officers located and contained the vehicle in the area of Tamarack Drive Extension, Labrador City.  Members of OPS engaged with the man and deployed a Crisis Negotiator. After some time, the incident reached a peaceful conclusion, and the man was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old man has been charged with careless use of a firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
