RNC Drug Unit Seize Quantity of Illicit Drugs with Help of Canada Post

(St. John’s, NL), January 27, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Drug Investigation Unit (DIU) have seized a quantity of drugs with the assistance of Canada Post.

In late January, 2023 the RNC DIU launched an investigation into the importation of controlled drugs into the province. On January 26th, 2023 the RNC Drug Investigation Unit, with the assistance of Postal Inspectors with Canada Post, executed multiple search warrants resulting in the seizure of 3 kilograms of cocaine and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

This investigation resulted in the arrest of a 38-year-old man from Conception Bay South. The man was arrested and released pending further investigation by the DIU.

The approximate street value of the drugs seized is in excess of $150,000

The RNC DIU would like to recognize the continued assistance of Canada Post in the effort to combat the importation of illegal substance into Newfoundland and Labrador.
