Drug Investigators Seize Cocaine and Cash in Paradise

(St. John’s, NL), May 23, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Drug Investigation Unit (DIU) seized cocaine, cash, vehicles and other trafficking related material.

In April of 2023, the RNC DIU launched an investigation into drug trafficking on the Northeast Avalon related to street-level activity. On May 17, 2023, investigators attended a residence in Paradise with judicial authorization to conduct a search in connection with the investigation. The officers seized drugs, cash, and other items related to drug trafficking on the property.

The following items were seized as a result of this investigation:

  • 2.69 kilograms of cocaine
  • 933.5 grams of crack cocaine
  • $163,310.00 in Canadian currency
  • Bear mace
  • Weigh scales
  • 2023 Range Rover Velar
  • 2023 Acura MDX
  • 2008 Mercedes AMG sedan
  • Other paraphernalia related to drug trafficking

The approximate value of the drugs seized is $275,000.00.

58-year-old Gary MULROONEY of Paradise has been arrested and charged with trafficking in controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and breach of court orders. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
