RNC Launch Recruitment for Cadets and Experienced Officers

(St. John’s, NL), June 8, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has opened the application process for individuals interested in a career with the RNC. The RNC is recruiting candidates for the Cadet Training Program, as well as experienced police officers interested in serving with the RNC.

The RNC is currently recruiting a class of candidates who will be given the opportunity to complete a progressive and safe training program delivered by the Atlantic Police Academy, located in Prince Edward Island. We accept applications from citizens and permanent residents of Canada. All applicants must have successfully completed a minimum of one academic year of post-secondary education (6+ months) at an accredited institution by September of the application year, or have experience in a law enforcement or military role.

Applicants must meet employment standards and participate in a selection process involving screening, physical fitness testing, interview, polygraph, background investigation, psychological and intelligence assessment, medical assessment and reference check. This recruitment drive is also seeking experienced police officers. This includes individuals currently serving, or that have served, as a sworn police officer with full constable status in a municipal or provincial police service, or with the RCMP. Applicants from outside of the country are welcome to apply, and will be required to be a citizen or permanent Canadian resident to qualify as a successful candidate. Experienced police officers can visit Hiring Experienced Police Officers – Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (gov.nl.ca) to obtain information in relation to joining the RNC.

The RNC Provincial Headquarters is in St. John’s with detachments in Corner Brook, Labrador West and Churchill Falls. Successful graduates may be assigned to any of our three regions, or to any other location that may be within the jurisdiction of the RNC.
