RNC Lay Charges Related to Homicide on Mitchell Court in St. John’s

(St. John’s, NL), June 23, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) have laid charges connected to the homicide of an 82-year-old female on Mitchell Court in St. John’s in March of 2022.

On March 16, 2022, the RNC CID launched an investigation into the death of an 82-year-old female of St. John’s after she was pronounced deceased in her home on Mitchell Court in St. John’s. Through consultation with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the death was treated as a homicide by investigators. The RNC CID engaged investigative techniques, including judicial authorizations, forensic analysis, interviews and video analysis through the course of the investigation.

On June 22, 2023, as a result of the investigation, 27-year-old Brandon TOBIN from St. John’s stands charged with manslaughter and failure to comply with court order. TOBIN is currently serving a sentence on an unrelated matter in Spring Hill, Nova Scotia, and will be served with a summons to appear in Provincial Court.
