RNC Make Arrest Related to Impaired Driving in Metro

(St. John’s, NL), August 1, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) made an arrest overnight in connection with impaired driving in St. John’s.

On Monday, July 31, 2023, at 10:00 pm, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to the area of Boyle Street in St. John’s in relation to a request for police assistance with the operator of a vehicle in the area. On arrival, officers identified the operator of the vehicle, subsequently engaging in an investigation related to operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, the 81-year-old male from St. John’s operating the vehicle was charged with refusal to provide a breath sample. The accused was released from custody to appear in Provincial Court in connection with the charge on a later date. The vehicle was impounded from the scene.
