RNC Investigating After Fatal Collision in St. John’s

(St. John’s, NL), August 3, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Accident Investigation Division is investigating a fatal accident that occurred in St. John’s on Wednesday.

RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS), Accident Investigation Division (AI) and Forensic Identification Services (FIS) responded to a serious accident on Druken Crescent in St. John’s on August 2, 2023. A young girl on a bicycle was struck by a vehicle and rushed to hospital where she sadly succumbed to her injuries a short while later. The RNC sends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Drunken Crescent was closed to traffic while officers gathered information from the scene. The 81-year-old driver of the pick-up truck remained on the scene and is co-operating with the investigation. The RNC AI are continuing to investigate the accident and are looking for witness information and video footage from the area of Drunken Crescent in Shea Heights around the time of the collision, shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
