RNC Make Multiple Arrests in Investigation of Firearms Offences

(St. John’s, NL), August 30, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) made multiple arrests yesterday in St. John’s in connection with an investigation into firearms offences.

The RNC Criminal Investigation Division (CID) launched an investigation into firearms offences in St. John’s in Mid-August of 2023. Multiple units of the RNC CID were engaged, resulting in judicial authorization to search a property on Coronation Street in St. John’s on August 29, 2023.

The RNC Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and Operational Patrol Services (OPS) supported the RNC CID search of a residence on Coronation Street in the early afternoon of Tuesday, August 29. Three individuals were taken into custody at the scene in connection with the investigation.

As a result of this ongoing investigation, the RNC CID have laid charges upon three individuals:

Felicia PYNN, 40 years old of St. John’s

  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Breach of firearm prohibition
  • Failure to comply with release order

James PITCHER-PYNN, 19 years old of St. John’s

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of controlled drug for the purpose of trafficking
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon

Shane RYAN, 43 years old of St. John’s

  • Failure to comply with a release order
