RNC Make Sexual Violence Arrest in St. John’s

(St. John’s, NL), November 3, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) have made arrest after receiving a report of sexual violence in St. John’s.

On Tuesday (Oct. 31), the RNC received a report that sexual violence had occurred overnight in a residential area of downtown St. John’s. Responding officers determined that a 31-year-old female had sustained physical injuries. The RNC Criminal Investigation Division was engaged to support the investigation.

As a result, on Thursday (Nov. 2), investigators arrested 63-year-old Dennis MURPHY at a residence in St. John’s, and charged him with sexual assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement and failure to comply with court orders. The accused was held to appear in Provincial Court.
