CBS Man Arrested for Firearms Offences

(St. John’s, NL), February 2, 2024 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has made an arrest following an investigation into firearms offences in Conception Bay South (CBS).

On Thursday (Feb. 1), at approximately 12:30 a.m., RNC patrol officers responded to a report of a firearms offence in progress in the area of Tilley’s Road South. Responding officers were informed that a male had pointed a firearm at another male and left the area on foot. A short time after arrival, patrol officers located the suspect in the area placing him under arrest without incident. The RNC Criminal Investigation Division was engaged to support the investigation.

Following his arrest, a 62-year-old male from CBS was charged with careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with knowledge the possession is unauthorized, and breach of firearms regulations. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court in connection with the charges.
